Philanthropy

National

Every year Tri Delta raises money for both national and local philanthropies. Our national philanthropy is the amazing St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude works hard every year providing children with cancer treatments and Tri Delta chapters across the nation work to support this wonderful charity. Since 1999, Tri Delta has adopted St. Jude as its national philanthropic partner and has raised over $16 million nationally for the charity. Last year, our chapter raised over $28,000 for St. Jude, topping off our grand total to $112,000!

Our chapter hosts two events each year in order to raise money for St. Jude. The first is "Frats at Bat," which is held every Spring. The event asks IFC Fraternities on campus to participate in a competitive softball tournament. Tri Delta members work hard to coach the teams, set up concessions and cheer on the players. The second event is "Sincerely Yours." This event is a letter writing campaign in which all of the members are encouraged to write at least 10 letters to their loved ones asking them to generously donate to St. Jude. Sincerely Yours is always our biggest campaign for St. Jude every year.

Local

Tri Delta also gives back to the local community every year. Each semester we host at least one event that goes toward a local philanthropy. Last Spring, Tri Delta hosted two charity events: Tri Delta Pancake Dinner and the IFC BBQ Cook-off. The annual Tri Delta Pancake Dinner is held at the sorority house serving pancakes, bacon, eggs and more for the community for just $5 a ticket. The proceeds from Pancake Dinner go toward UNC Dance Marathon. Tri Delta also teamed up with Phi Gamma Delta to put on another friendly competition between IFC fraternities. The event is a BBQ cook-off that is judged by the local Chapel
Hill fire department. The proceeds for this event go toward the Chapel Hill Fire Department. In the fall, Tri Delta teams up with Chi Phi to put on the annual James Alexander Low Country Boil. Members of both chapters work to prepare and serve crawfish, shrimp, corn, potatoes and more for dinner. The proceeds for this event go toward the N.C. Coastal Conservation Association.
